What is the name of your state? Georgia

After my daughter was born in July, my wife quit working to be at home with child. Does she qualify as a dependent for the whole year or just partial?
Thanks

Does who count as a dependent? Your wife or your child?

Your child counts as a dependent for the entire year. Your wife is your spouse and you should be filing a joint return with her, whether she worked or not.

You don't have the option of claiming your wife as a "dependent" and it wouldn't be in your best interest to do so even if you could.
