My husband died on 1-15-07, no will and everything was in his name. I can understand how everything goes to probate and the notices to children to deny or accept.
However, I filed Federal and State taxes for him and me last week. Does the money go to probate (estate) or is it mine?
I understand that in Oklahoma I get half of the estate and the children get to divide the other half among themselves if they choose. I just need to know if the taxes I filed belong to the estate or to me.
