What is the name of your state? New York

How long does it take to probate an estate? My mother died in November. My lawyer submitted a request for probate and I've heard nothing since. Meanwhile, I can't apply for any tax exemptions on the house because it's still in her name.

Calfornia, mine has been in probate a year so far.
