What is the name of your state? Oregon

My mom passed away about 1 1/2 months ago. Her insurance
covered much of the hospital bills, but there is about $7000 in
costs not covered. Her share of her house went to her boyfriend
through right of survivorship. We believe she had about $19000
in equity in the house. My sister and I were listed as beneficiaries
on the life insurance and her retirement fund, which I understand
do not go to the estate. This leaves only her car (which she owned
out right) and a bank acct with about $1000 in it. She left no
other real debt, just the hospital bill we received. Are we responsible
for the hospital bill ? Do we have to probate her estate that's
just a car (I'd guess its value at around $12000) and $1000 in the
bank ?

Thanks for any advice
