I have a friend who has failed to appear in court on a contempt charge from August. The state this was charged in is new york. He is currently thinking of coming back to deal with this charge. He failed to appear in court on two different dates due to the fact he left town to do another job. What should be his first step? Please will someone answer this as i am not sure i can seek advice for him anywhere else as i happen to live in the county he has been charged. They tell me that they can not tell me anything till he appears in court. He is afraid of going to jail. I don't blaim him as he is a hard working person who just fell into trouble with his temper. The charge was produced from a restraining order that he violated due to sending an email that was an apology to the person who had the restraining order.
