For our 2006 taxes I'm married filing jointly with an AGI of roughly $130K. I have about $1,300 in non-reimbursed tuition and fees from 2006. Going through the tax software Q&A it doesn't appear that we will qualify for any type of tax saving from the tuition and fees. The courses were not part of a degree program, just additional post-grad courses. Based on our AGI and filing status is there any way we can write off these education costs?

Thanks!

See if you can get an update on your tax software as you may qualify for an above the line deduction per code Sec. 222. The code has a sunset provision of Dec. 31, 2005, but Congress has extended it and it is still in effect. You would place the amount (Read the code for instructions on limitations.) on line 35 of your 1040 with a "T" just to the left of the box.
