We recently purchased a '91 Honda Accord that showed 110,000 miles on the odometer. The man selling the car stated that it had 110,000 miles on it. The car has a new paint job and is very clean and in good condition. He seemed honest. We paid cash for the car. The seller insisted that he register the car for us as he is a used car wholesaler and has an agent that does this all the time. We agreed. We live in NV and have notoriously long lines at the DMV. Because the car had an Iowa title, the agent was unable to register the car without a VIN inspection. We had her send us all the paperwork, including title so that we could do it ourselves. Upon recieving the title we discovered that the car actually has 210,000 miles on it. Since the car is 10 years old, do we have any legal options in getting our money back or are we stuck with it? Also, is the seller in violation of the law for resetting the odometer? What can we do? Thankyou. GAB
