Does Bankruptcy Disrupt Social Security payments in GA?

My uncle is fully disabled and receives $500/month from Disability. Our family has discovered that he is deeply in debt from credit cards (he is a diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic and has a form of Down's Syndrome). We believe the only way to remedy his credit situation is to file bankruptcy. However, what impact will that have on his Disability payments? We live in Georgia and we need direction before we make any moves.
