Unhappy with my lawyer HELP!!!

I am in the process of a family court matter but my lawyer I feel is not doing his job. I have paid him more than half of what he asked for do do both cases. We haven't gone back to court for either one yet. He does not return my calls or answers any of my questions. I did not sicn any kind of contract it was just a verbal aggreement. How do I fire him and get some of my money back?

Fire his/or butt and request the unused portion of the retainer and your files back. Don't expect to get any money back.
