Failed to return a Rental Car

What is the name of your state? Pa

I have had a rental car from a major car rental now for over a month and a half. They were billing my credit card, but my card is now maxed and the card wont let them authorize anymore. I have now had it over 2 weeks and nothing has been paid on it. I am going to take it back at the end of the week when I get back in the area. I am not in the area to return it right now. A lady from the Loss prevention department has been leaving messages for me and last night I talked to her and she told me that there was going to be a warrant for my arrest. Do car rental companies really do that, or is that they're way to scare you? I just thought that they would have a repo company come find the car. I am not trying to steal it, I am just not even close to the area to return it untill the end of the week, due to a family emergency, and I dont need to be worrying about being picked up on a warrant from a car rental company.

You've stolen the vehicle. Your "intent" to return it later means nothing. You can return a rental vehicle all over the country.

In my state this is called felony embezzlement of a vehicle. It is possible - and very likely - that the vehicle has already been reported as stolen and entered into NCIC's SVS (Stolen Vehicle System). If they have not yet reported it, they are foolish and are exposing themselves to liability ... especially since you can no longer pay for it with the credit card. However, they may have slipped into the civil arena by permitting this uncontracted extension, so there may be no report ... yet!

Get that car bask ASAP, and pray that they have not yet called the police.

You are so wierd. How do you get yourself in all of these bizarre situations? Really, what is the truth here? You are in serious trouble with just not bothering to return this rental car. Wow. Even if no criminal charges are brought (best case scenario) your credit will be destroyed.
