What is the name of your state? NY

I was wondering about the following

IF a DWI happened in the summer of 2000

But official conviction was December of 2001 (Court settle)

and 6 month probation was served accordingly

How long does this take to come off your record?

If it stays permanent and it is your only offense ever can it be expunged? if so from what date can you apply for that from the violation date or the convicted date?

Thank you in advance for all your help

Info I found on an unnamed lawyer's website:

You need to present a vigorous defense against a DWI/DUI. These are serious charges. Since New York does not have an expungement statute, a criminalconviction will remain on your record indefinitely. Another reason to get a DWI dismissed or reduced is the fact that any conviction for a DWAI Drugswithin ten years may serve as a predicate for a future felony DUI.
