In a criminal trial, once a defendant waives their right to a jury trial in favor of a bench trial, can they change their mind before the trial begins and ask for a jury trial?

Not if you were found to have knowingly, voluntarily and willingly waived your right to a jury trial. On what legal grounds have you changed your mind?

Right to a jury

Actually, I am the person bringing criminal charges against the defendant. I think their reason for changing their mind is they are saying they haven't had a right to a speedy trial. This makes no sense, as they have been tossing all sorts of delays into the trial to make it go on forever.
