What is the name of your state? KS

My 18 year old son was issued a ticket for "minor in consumption" in June. He has a court date next week. He admitted to drinking 4-5 beers over a 3 hour time period. His breathalizer test (which was administered 4 times because they did not believe the results) was .01.

I have two questions: do we need to hire a lawyer for this court date? He has no prior convictions of any kind - not even a traffic ticket. AND....what should we expect at this court appearance (eg - fine - driver's license suspension - alcohol class - diversion possibility - etc).

thank you.
