P

probate confusion

Guest
Santa Barbara, California. Step-mother has filed her spousal property petition and does not wish to be executor. My father's estate must be probated because of one money market account he left to his children. I thought a dollar amount would be listed on her petition and it could be used for preparing probate documents - can she be forced to provide this information? The relationship is at ground zero and she has not been willing to give financial information. No one is going to fight our father's wishes, but we need proper information. This is all very uncomfortable. Thank you.
