What is the name of your state? New York

Hey,

I work in a computer repair shop. We have several old computers and laptops in our store room, some dating back to almost a year ago. They have been left by their owners, but we haven't been in contact with them since they dropped off their stuff. I was just wondering how long I have to wait to claim an abandoned computer as my own, or what permissions I need. Thanks for the replies!

As an employee, you have no rights or claims to any of the property that is left. It all belongs to the owner of the shop and the disposal of the left over property will depend on the shop policy and specific laws that govern such property.

Well in the store it is only me and my two bosses, who started the shop. I spoke to both of them and they said that I could have said items, but they didn't know what the laws were on abandoned property. I was just wondering if there was a set amount of time one had to wait before claiming said property.
