My daughter is 21 years old and lives in wisconsin. She had trouble with the engine in her car and a customer she met at work said he could change the engine for her. She met with him at his girlfriends and his apartment and made a verble contract that she would give him a check for $500.00 so he could purchase a used engine and put it in the car for her for another $300.00. The check was made out to the girlfriend because she had supposedly already written a check for the engine out of her checking. It is three days latter and no one has picked up the car or answers the phone or house door. The guy also quit his job at the garage where he worked. What recourse does she have?
We think he intentially defrauded her. kim
