I have a car that very probably has had the odometer rolled back. I have tried to get information on the original owner but due to privacy issues it is not possible unless you file a lawsuit. The car came from Florida according to the dealer I bought it from but I am not sure if the original owner or the dealer rolled the miles back. Can I file a lawsuit and not name a defendant until I can get information from DMV in Florida and North Carolina (where I bought the car). I suspect the dealer is at fault here. I would like to find the original owner and/or get title information on the transfer to the dealer from the original owner. Any advice?
