Is the Law Enforcement Agency investigating an a child abuse/neglect case? Is the records for your Autistic Child? You really need to provide more information to get a accurate answer.

Sorry, LEA (local education agency) . They want to obtain records from private insurance company to verify benefits and payments.

And what would be your reason for objecting to this? How would you be harmed by release of this information?

OP – Your original question *suggested the possibility* of proscribed HIPAA disclosures and your further explanation tends to obviate that but may leave other doors open. What might be contained in medical insurance records [from a healthcare provider] could be very different from payments and benefits data from a private insurer, and the reference to the use of a subpoena is another confusing variable.

Before another round of “guess and infer”, might it not be helpful to simply explain what is going on and the nature of your concerns? Clearly, you otherwise run the risk of an accurate but inapplicable response.
