WANTED TO KNOW THE CONSEQUENCES OF A JUVENILE ESCAPING FROM OHIO TO FLORIDA THAT WILL BE 18 IN OCTOBER FOR BAD URINE TEST AND IS PLACED IN A GROUP HOME. DOES ANYONE KNOW THE LAWS IN SUCH A CASE?
THANK YOU

Firstly, please don't type in all caps. Online, that indicates "yelling". Also, it's difficult to read.

Secondly, there will be a warrant out for his arrest in Ohio that may or may not be extraditable in other states including Florida.

Escape

Thank you for your information. Did not know about the caps as well. Do you know of any resources I could use to find out which states are extraditable?

First it is not an escape. It will be a violation of probation charge. If he is not to leave the state without his probation officers permission he will get charged with that violation. He will also face the bad urine test violation, and a violation for not reporting on time.

He will be lucky if they don't charge him with a Felony and try him as an adult now.

Pull out all the paperwork you have from the probation office and they will tell you what the consequences are. One is that he will be required to serve the rest of his time locked up.

Actually if he was put in a group home by the state then it COULD be considered escape.

If the underlying criminal offense occurred before the individual's 18th birthday (and if he wasn't waived to adult court), he will remain under the jurisdiction of the juvenile court until the court releases him. That means the issue of his 18th birthday is moot.

If he left the group home, that would be escape. If he left to keep from getting placed in a group home, or to get away from probation, that would be either Failure to Appear or Evading the Jurisdiction of the Court.
