expungment

I have a drug abuse convinction from May 2000. Is it true I can start the expungement process in May of this year? Do you need a lawyer to do this? Does expungement of a conviction erase it off your record completely? I'm trying to get a job in the medical field, will future potential employers be able to see this cahrge if I have it expunged? I was convicted in the state of Ohio. Any advice will be appreciated.
