Hi Form,

I was wondering if anyone had experience with de facto parenting status? If so, please let me know if the following situation has ever happen to you.

We are in the process of a simi-custody battle and the court has granted us de facto parent status, however the opposing attorney is now trying to remove these rights. My understanding is that the only way de facto status can be removed from the caregiver, is the caregiver (foster parent) has to be identified as unfit for de facto status. Can these rights be removed at the request of an opposing attorney? If so, is there a counter process that can hinder there request???

All, thank you in advance...
