major stores liability

What is the name of your state? California

I was recently attacked in front of a major store in southern california. There was no security guard present nor a camera to catch the perpetrator in action. I was sprayed with pepper spray and the employees refused to help me for a long while. Does the store have any liablity in this?

How about this. You went to fast food "A" for a burger. On the way home your hand slipped on the steering wheel and you hit a tree. Terrible situation.

Whose is liable .... the tree, the car manufacturer or the highway for not having a hand wipe available? Clearly, in this case, it was the farmer that provided the cow
