What is the name of your state? California

My sister-in-law died intestate. My brother and she did not have any children and their only asset is their community property home. My understanding is that he inherits her half of the home. Is that correct? The house is worth about $800,000.00 so there shouldn't be any estate taxes owed. They have no debts or outstanding bills. Does this have to go to probate? Can we just transfer the title of the house to him and move on? Thank you for any advice.

Look at Probate Code Section 13500 for the rule, and 13650 if you want a court order to prove status to third parties, such as a title insurer.
