HI!! WE live in athens, Georgia & husband got fired at job.So, the empolyer typed me a letter stating I was eligible for HEALTH coverage until April 2001.THE LETTER is on company paper & signed. IS THIS A CONTRACT?????OUR problems are.. ,on FEB. 2001 unicare insurance cancelled because they said employer was covered under the state continuation , NOT COBRA because they have LESS than 20 employees.YET, EMPLOYER & UNICARE both told us we had until april & never informed of this UNTILL AFTER CANCELLATION...IS THIS LEGAL???? I would of explored other options, IF I WAS TOLD BEFORE ,THE CORRECT INFORMATION. NOW I AM WITHOUT INSUREance & UNINSURABLE....NOBODY WILL EXPLAIN OR HELP ME & PART OF MY ILLNESS...I STAY :CONFUSED:IT JUST DOES NOT SEEM LEGAL OR FAIR....ITS MY LIFE ,WITHOUT MY DOCTORS CARE...I JUST CAN NOT IMAGEN...THANK YOU FOR ALL SUGGESTIONS.LISA J IN PAIN....:) :)
