What were the cash advances used for?

Some money used to pay bills for business and some to pay off wife's debts and moving expenses to leave husband
If some of the money was used to pay business bills, I think you would have a very hard time convincing a judge that you were unaware that the cash advances were being made.

So, maybe, there are no grounds for fraud? Is it like the wife had power of attorney to handle things as she saw necessary?

The wife applied for the credit in the husbands name.

Is that considered fraud?
Not necessarily. Again, based on where some of the money went, its going to be difficult for you to prove that you not only did not have knowledge that she was obtaining the cards, but did not agree to her doing so.
