What is the name of your state? IL

I have looked everywhere and can't find one thing in the IL Probate Act that mentions whether a stepchild can inherit from an INTESTATE stepparent if they were never formally adopted by that stepparent.

I know some states such as FL have a virtual adoption or equitable adoption law that allow this.....but Illinois mentions nothing. I couldn't find one case of this on Lexis either and I found that odd. I would figure this would be much more common.

There is nothing in the Illinois probate code that suggests that un-adopted step children are heirs for the purpose of intestate succession -- and this is the rule in virtually all states.
