My husband gave up his parental rights to his daughter when she was four years old. It was a bad custody situation and he wanted to give her the most normal life possible so he allowed her stepfather to adopt her. We have had no contact with her since than. We know where she lives and how to reach her, but we're wondering if there are any laws against contacting her after she turns 18 years old.

Thank you very much for your time.

There are laws against harassment. Contacting a person to say hello doesn't constitute harassment. (barring any other "things" that we might not have been told)

Contacting her is not against the law.

However, if she tells him to leave her alone, and he continues to contact her- that is against the law.
