Yesterday afternoon my daughter was leaving our house to go to her softball game at school. When she got to the end of t he road in our neighborhood, there were deputies directing traffic at the intersection due to a rather large funeral of a policeman who was killed in Iraq. The stop sign she stopped at is on a slight incline. When she took off she was giving some gas so as not to stall out. (She's 17 and has had her liscence for 1 month.) The officer evidently thought she was 'showboating', his words, and wrote her up for "carelessly and heedlessly in willful and wanton disregardof the right or safety of others operated a vehicle to wit: aggresive and excessive acceleration past law enforcement directing funeral."

Then another charge of "speed greater than was reasonable and prudent under the then existing conditions of heavy traffic due to law enforcement directed funeral."

Is there any chance of fighting this in court? She's too new to driving to "showboat". She may be alittle rough with her standard shift but that'll come with time.
