I have a question re: federal drug crimes. I will most likely be charged with illegally obtaining rx. drugs (schedule iv-xanax)3 times by having someone elses prescription filled. I have no past record of any kind and will enter rehab treatment immediatley. My MD is telling me there is no difference between this and any other federal crime and I could be looking at a very long jail term. Is this true? What type of lawyer do I need and at one point? Thanks.

I am a law school graduate. What I offer is mere information, not to be construed as forming an attorney client relationship.

Well. Yes that is true. It is your intent that is important here. YOu need a lawyer immediately especially if your past criminal history is clean. Typically, plea bargaining or even diversion programs may occur to lessen the sentence.

Try http://www.attorneypages.com for a criminal defense attorney. If no luck there, try your state bar association.
