What is the name of your state? West Virginia

My wife asked me for a controlled separation after 13 years of Married. I agreed to a 4 month separation with possibily adding 2 more months on mutual agreement. It has been 4 months and she said she wants a divorce. I have seen my children every wednesday and every other weekend for the 4 months. Since I live out of the house more than in the house, can she get me for abandonment or if not can this affect the type of custody. My brother's lawyer thought that if I was out for 6 months then my current visitation would be the best I could get as far as custody? Please help and need fast!!!!!

Even 4 months can establish somewhat of a status quo. However by no means does that establish any kind of abandonment.
