In a small claims action is a plaintiff REQUIRED to RESPOND to interrogatories?

My association filed a Commercial Claim against a former officer, in part, to retrieve compensation for a laptop, its contents, and funds that were converted to (his) own use, (that's Our opinion).

(He) responded with a lengthy interrogatory which will require at least several hours of research to respond to. No doubt, it is intended to intimidate us, and overwhelm us with paperwork with no end in site. (He) takes pride in being a "pro se" defendant. What is the name of your state?
