What is the name of your state? south carolina
i married a man in 1991 and in 2001 i found out he was married to another woman and had been for 12 years. he divorced her shortly after he got caught but i would like to know if he was suppose to have our marriage annulled or was we suppose to get a divorce too.he has remarried and i would like to know if he is a bigamist again and want to make sure what i should do so if i ever meet someone and want to remarry it would not make me a bigamist too.hope you have a answer for me.

All that needed to happen is that your marriage end. Either by divorce or annulment. Doesn't matter.

If you are still married, he's a bigamist (again). You can end your marriage either with an annulment or a divorce, but the divorce will probably be less expensive. See an attorney.

Once you have the divorce, you're free to remarry (although most states have a short waiting period where you can't marry until xxx days after your divorce).
