What is the name of your state? Massachusetts
If you signed a piece of paper years ago when husband was working job1 stating he would pay wife xxx dollars a week is it legal?
He has changed jobs and is now retiering to a pension and VA disability.

That would depend greatly upon what type of piece of paper this was, and who knew about it. ;)

In other words, is it a COURT ORDER?

Or is it a napkin with some scribbles that was never filed with the court?

What it was for could also matter. You can have an enforceable, contractual obligation without it being a court order.

Maybe is, maybe isn't.

How long was the marriage?
how long since divorced?

What have you done either before or after your marriage to plan for your own eventual retirement needs?

How old are you? Were you married more than 10 years? If so have you remarried?

What was your plan if he dropped dead or was in a coma tomorrow and COULDN'T pay you?

Was this agreement incorporated into a divorce decree?
