Q: What does burification mean and when is it used in cases of divorce?

A: Bifurcation means that the divorce part of the lawsuit (i.e., the marriage question) is tried first and then the support, custody, and property stuff is tried second. Why states do that in this kind of lawsuit is strange to me and I see no reason for it.

One party is eager to marry again (?girlfriend is pregnant, or sugar daddy is ill)

They want the status of marriage dissolved, although the other issues are still before the court and will be resolved later.

It's usually a bad idea, as there is no impetus to finish the divorce.
