What is the name of your state? NC
What is my first step if someone that I was working for as an independent contractor has not paid me for the last 2 weeks that I worked? (Medical Transcription with a contract).

Thank you in advance for any and all help,
Sharley

When were you supposed to be paid?

Write the person a letter and send it via certified mail, return receipt requested. Cite the date that payment was due and politely ask how it was sent, noting that you haven't received the check to date.

If you don't get a response, look up your state's laws on small claims court.
