What is the name of your state? Texas
It has been 12 years since I have seen my husband, I do not know where he is or how to locate him. Do I need to apply for a divorce, or does Texas see abandonment after so many years as divorced already? What can I do?
Also we had no children or property. It was a 1 year marriage before he left.

I doubt that Texas automatically 'divorces' you under any circumstances. However, you can file for divorce yourself without knowing how to find your husband. Abandonment is grounds for divorce in Texas, and there is a process called "Missing Spouse Divorce" described on this website:

Good Luck!
