What is the name of your state? NY

If a ticket for a moving violation has the wrong date on it - and you can prove you were somewhere else on that date - you can apparently fight the ticket by claiming you know nothing about it and provide proof to the judge that you were elsewhere at the time.

But what do you do with the ticket when you get it in the first place? If you plead not guilty, sign it, and send it in, then doesn't the act of signing it tell the judge you DID know about it?

Should you instead plead not guilty and NOT sign the ticket before sending it in? how should one handle this?

thank you for any input!

Based on the lack of a response from the OP of the dead post you revived, that defense apparently does not work. Besides the ticket, the officer will also have his notes and daily log, very likely one of these will have the correct date.
