What is the name of your state? GA/NC

Hello!

The father in this case passed away recently. He'd had custody of his child, who was returned to the mother in NC. The mother recently married (the parents of the child were never married) and now the step-father wants to adopt the child.

Is there a way for the estate of the deceased father to contest the adoption? (the paternal grandparents, administrator, guardian ad litem etc are all based in GA).

Thank you for your time and advice :)

If the mother has custody then there is probably no way to contest the potential adoption. They're basiclly her rights now.
Sit back and shut up. Yes the grandparents and others might be able to contest the adoption. They may not win but they may have rights to attempt to contest it. Sareena SHUSH. NOW. keep it up and you WILL be banned.

OP, How long has the child been in North Carolina? How long has she been married? What type of relationship did the child have with mother and stepfather?

I wouldn't think so.
There may be a way. But more information is necessary. Oh and to add to my other questions, why is the GAL for the adoption case in Georgia? Where did the divorce take place? Or is this the GAL for a custody case?
