What is the name of your state? New York
My husband just learned of an outstanding warrant from SanDiego, Ca for probation violation dated 7/23/1985. He left CA in November 1985. He appeared in court with his PO before leaving. He argued with the judge and part of the stipulation of his release was that he never come back to SanDiego. The judge ordered it in the records. He had a minor accident in Feb. 2007 and the state police told him. They told him never go back there and they would not extradite. He has had background checks through employers and no warrant arose. It did not even appear when he was arrested for disorderly conduct 15 years ago. The violation occured 5 months before he left SanDiego with the judge's say so. How can they have a warrant now and what are the ramifications. He talked to the fugitive task force leader and they told him the case is very, very weak, not a strong case at all. His bail is $2,000 - usually for these he said it is $30 to $50,000. What can he expect? If he goes there he will lose his job, car and possibly our home as he can be detained there for a months or more. Any help or insight would be appreciated. He can't even remember the judge's name or probation officer's name after 23 years.
