My brother-in-law's wife left him last week and took the kids to her mother's in Florida. He lives in Georgia and this past Monday was served a violence warrant from the local sheriff's department. Warrant claims abuse and abandonment, and says she is asking for weekly child support. He is to appear in Florida court on March 6th. The hand writing on the warrant is her mother's, and one of her (the wife's) signature's is forged. Her legal residence is Georgia. The entire basis of the warrant is "he said, she said". Is this legal? Does he need to show up in Florida? If so, does he need an attorney for this hearing? Does he have any legal recourse? Thank you.
