We had an HVAC system installed about 4 years ago. This year we discovered that due to improper installation the whole system is filled with mold. Our calls to the original contractor are going unanswered. We are having the whole thing removed from the home tomorrow because we are all (spouse and 2 kids) reacting to the mold when the system was on for a couple of days. Since this sort of thing hasn't happened to us before, I'm not sure what to do next. The issue is the cost of removal and the replacement of the whole system due to widespread contamination is way out of our ability to pay. Since it was due to improper installation, i want to know if it's reasonable to expect the original contractor to cover these costs and how to go about accomplishing this.
Thanks for any advice offered!
