KANSAS After my contract was not renewed in
November and I was replaced by 3 part time physicians, my former employer made a negative
report about me citing new complaints about my
treatments and conduct that came up AFTER I left the
mental health center where I had worked for over 5
years (with an excellant record and no such
complaints). Although I recieved excellant letters of
recomendation from co-workers, this negative report
was very damaging and cost me new employment
opportunities. (I checked with the state board of Healing
Arts and no complaints have ever been filed against
me.) What avenues do I have to see and address
these so called complaints? Is this slander? Do I
have the right to force the former employer to produce
these complaints and substantiate them? I want a
chance to clear my name.

Question: What information do you have to support your claim that the former employer is making negative comments about you? If you have sufficient evidence (and not rumor), then you might be able to make a claim that his statements have damaged your reputation and/or career.

I would suggest that you consider writing the former HR person a letter (Certified RRR) detailing the claim that you are making and ask them to either cease all unsubstantiated rumors regarding your work history, or that they could be liable for legal action.

I suggest that you also look at the following sites:
