i need to know if a judge can issue a judgement against me during a status conference and am i right in thinking i have 30 days to appeal this

You need to clarify 'status conference'. Usually this is a meeting of the parties to confirm status of motions and filings with the court, in anticipation of the trial date. I have never heard of a court rendering a judgment just from this meeting.

Could you mean that the mediator has rendered an agreed judgment as a result of an arbitration process??? If so, you need to determine if the mediation was binding on both parties, and whether you signed an agreement of finding.
