possesion of marijuana

I was stopped for swerving. The sheriff asked if he could search my vehicle i sad yes. He found a very small stem but did not take it for evidance because i swipped it off before he could. I did tell him i smoked some earlyer. He gave me a ticket anyway for possesion of marijuana. can i fight this and how? The state is Wyoming.
