What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NM

One of my friends who is almost 40 beat the daylights out of a 24 year-old guy last Sunday and I am wondering what kind of jail time/fines he is facing. It is his first offense and he is charged with aggravated battery with great bodily harm. Thanks.
