New York State Personal Injury Contingency fee retainer -
Who pays expenses if the case is lost - client, lawyer, or by agreement / retainer. Is there a law that mandates who is responsible? If possible, please refer me to a website where the law is spelled out.
Thank you.

I am not aware of any statutory requirement that these expenses be this way, but normally the payment of legal expenses is paid by the Client and is spelled out in the Attorney-Client contract. It is certainly an issue that can be negotiated before entering the contract.
