What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? TX
We bought a Tempurpedic bed 8 days ago and want to return it. The store is now telling us they do not refund any purchase, only exchange for another product in the store. We found a different mattress we want, but that store doesn't sell it. Are we screwed? I thought in Texas everything was returnable in a certain amount of time. Help!

Depends. You entered into a contract when you purchased the mattress (or pretty much anything else). Unless a 'right to rescind' is required by statute or by the merchant allowing you to rescind and return, you have NO inherent right to do so.

You 'thought' wrong. Only a very few transactions are allowed to be rescinded in Texas or any other state. For a list of those that are allowed by statute, go to:
