I paid for funeral service to deliver my dad's body from the funeral home to the cemetery. We arranged for a brief service at the cemetery chapel and then move on to the grave site for burial. The plan was for my family to follow the hearse from funeral home to the cemetery, which is about 30 miles away.
On the day of the burial, we went to the funeral home and was shocked to find out the hease has left for the cemetery without us. This was very upsetting to me and my family as we all wanted to escort our dad on his last journey. The weekend funeral director messed up and did not communicate with the weekday funeral director whom we made all the arrangement. We felt cheated by this and this has made us furious and caused us emotional stress for the past few days.
The weekend funeral director apologized for his mistake, but my family still can't get over this. My brother said I should ask them for a refund for the funeral service payment since they made the mistake. Are there legal grounds for a refund on this (failure to perform), or it would be a goodwill gesture on their part to give us a refund. I'm not sure even if they are willing.
Thanks. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
