What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas

My wife passed away without a will. What do I need to do to be appointed Executor of her Estate?

Condolences

Your wife died, my condolences.

The legal matter is that your wife had no will.

She has died intestate. That means that the distribution of her assets will be dictated by the probate laws of Texas. Although you as her husband certainly have a sense of here wishes, there is really nothing you can do to have things distributed other than as called for in the Texas statute.

I strongly suggest you call an attorney who deals in estate laws with experience in intestate decedents.

Is the estate large or especially complex or involves adversarial parties?

If so, be sure your lawyer is good.
