A guy bought a riding mower from Sears, making payments on it. He becomes disabled. His mother pays off the balance of the loan ($2,000) not knowing he has disability insurance on the loan.(I don't think he was aware he had disability insurance on the loan either) Now they won't give her her money back. Isn't she entitled to a refund of her money? It wasn't her loan to begin with.

No, she's not. She can't undo her payment. The disabled party can file an insurance claim, though, and try to recover "his" money.
